Allowed Police Questions Before Miranda Warning

Question: What types of questions are police allowed to ask before reading the Miranda Warning?

Answer: So, they’re allowed to ask basic questions, maybe like your age, your name, maybe where you live; certain things that don’t go to the elements of the crime or the investigation. So, information that is not going to illicit a response from an individual, which could then be incriminating. So basic, you know, hair color, weight and stuff like that, that’s something that the law enforcement officer would probably get away with without having to read Miranda.
